Bravo! Common Men, Uncommon Valor--A Documentary of the Siege of Khe Sanh

Bravo! Common Men, Uncommon Valor from Ken Rodgers on Vimeo.

From Christopher Beaver, Documentary Filmmaker, after viewing Bravo!

Bravo! Common Men, Uncommon Valor is an important and deeply affecting film about the sacrifices and the courage of the Americans who fought in Vietnam. The emotional message of the film is as timely today as when the first American troops entered Vietnam.

After watching the film, I sat in a deep personal silence remembering the friends who returned from the war and those who did not. I wanted to express my gratitude to the men in the film for sharing what they went through, to say to each one of them that after hearing their words and seeing their faces I better understood what they endured then and what they still endure today, and that I hoped in the future that together we might find a better path to follow than more warfare.

To participate in the creation of this film is to honor those who served in Vietnam and to help heal the wounds that remain from the war that took so many lives and so deeply divided our country.

Final Cut Almost Complete

Team Bravo! has good news: Our final cut is nearly complete. Picture and sound editor John Nutt has worked his magic and created a masterpiece that reflects his lifelong devotion to film. Along with Ken and Betty Rodgers’ vision, John has taken the interviews, historical photographs, military film clips, and archived audio recordings, and pieced them together to tell the story of Bravo Company during the 77-day siege of Khe Sanh in the Vietnam War. The sound, the music, the creative use of material are all combined in a powerful and compelling way to show how these boys-turned-men performed, how they endured such a horrific experience, and how it altered their lives forever.

It’s about real people

In this film you will meet 15 men from Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines, including their company commander and two lieutenants. You’ll learn how the siege started, with Bravo Company surrounded and dramatically outnumbered by the enemy. You’ll hear historical tapes recorded in the field and music written and recorded during the war. You’ll find yourself transported back to the Sixties and learn the story behind many names on The Wall. You’ll see Vietnam Veterans in a new light.

We need your help

We would like to use materials that cost more money. At the siege were two incredible and well-known photographers whose work is available, but comes with a price tag. There is music that fits the story perfectly, but there are licensing and use fees. There is excellent CBS footage but they charge by the second. For all of this, we need $20,878. Your donation in any amount TODAY will help us purchase these rights and make this film the best it can be.

Our sites are set

We plan to complete our final cut in time to submit to film festivals beginning in August. That means we need funds to complete it NOW. Can you help us get there? This IndieGoGo campaign ends shortly.

From Ken Rodgers

Ten days after my 21st birthday in January 1968, the siege of Khe Sanh began. Except for officers and career NCOs, I was one of the oldest Marines trapped in that wet and isolated battleground. For the next seventy-seven days, my comrades—mostly teenagers—and I endured one of the longest and most ferocious sieges in the history of American warfare.

Six thousand Marines and supporting personnel were surrounded by elements of three crack North Vietnamese divisions. We could see them working in their trenches. Some days we took over 1200 rounds of incoming rocket and artillery fire, an average of one every 72 seconds. We lived in deep holes, like rats, with the rats. We went outside the wire and engaged in deadly firefights; intimate affairs, with satchel charges and bayonets. And we performed, survived and we triumphed. Though children, we triumphed.

Now, forty-three years later, my wife, Betty, and I are making a documentary film recording and celebrating that triumph, our survival, and our memories.

ROMNEY--Sums it up well

This email is basically a request for donations for a PAC.

However, it lists all the reasons that Conservatives do not want Romney

Warn America About a FAKE Conservative Candidate -- Click below to Help Run Nationwide Ads Exposing Mitt Romney's Record:
https://secure.conservativedonations.com/rmpac_romney/?a=6502

ALERT: Patriotic, conservative Americans have a problem.

And WE are going to spread the word of WARNING with nationwide ads!

No, we're not talking about the fact that Barack Hussein Obama is still in the White House. Or that he might win the next presidential election in 2012.

We're talking about the danger that a Republican WILL win the next Presidential election... but he won't be a real Republican at all. And that could KILL the conservative movement for years to come.

Remember how the liberal press went "ga-ga" over "RINOs" (Republicans In Name Only) like Rudy Giuliani and John McCain in the last GOP primary elections? Right now, politicians like that aren't the biggest danger that we, as the base of the GOP, face -- the biggest danger is a Republican who has positioned himself as a "true conservative"...

... A Republican who has captured the fawning attention of conservative publications like the Washington Times, National Review, and others...

... A Republican who is trying desperately to convince us that he's "one of us" while doing everything he can to secretly advance a liberal agenda...

... A Republican who has spent his entire career speaking and governing as a liberal, and is now pretending it never happened...

... A Republican who supported a nearly-identical healthcare bill as Obamacare...

... A Republican named Governor Mitt Romney.

You read that right. Despite recent statements across the country by Governor Mitt Romney claiming he's anti-socialized healthcare, pro-life, pro-family and a committed conservative, a broad investigation of his actual statements, actions, and public positions over the years indicates that he has spent his entire career speaking and governing as a liberal -- and that his new-found "conversion" to conservatism coincides with his candidacy for the presidency, starting in 2007.

As star conservative researcher Steve Baldwin has pointed out: Romney changed his position on over THIRTY KEY ISSUES as he prepared to run for President four years ago.

Just look at a few of the items on Mitt Romney's "greatest hits" list:
Romney favored "Assault" Weapons Ban
Romney Favors Waiting Periods to Buy Handguns
Romney raised taxes on business by a total of $309 million
Romney increased taxes on business property
Romney joined a coalition lobbying congress to tax internet activity
Romney refused to support the Bush tax cuts while governor
Romney refused to sign the No New Taxes pledge when campaigning for Governor
Romney Balanced Budget with $500 Million in New Fees
Romney imposed "socialized" health care on Massachusetts
Romney supported abortion in general, and believes in sustaining Roe v. Wade.
Romney campaigned for Governor of Massachusetts as a pro-choice candidate, and was endorsed by a pro-abortion political group
Romney Approves of the Abortion Pill and Supports the Legalization of RU-486
Romney has a long history of promoting and furthering the homosexual agenda, and working closely with leading gay activists
Romney barred Boy Scouts from public participation in 2002 Olympics because of their Ban on Homosexual Scoutmasters
Romney unnecessarily (and unconstitutionally) implemented homosexual marriages in Massachusetts
And let's NOT forget that FACT that OBAMACARE is modeled on Mitt Romney's socialized healthcare scheme in Massachusetts!

How much more do you need?

This is NOT the man that the GOP should look to, to lead us back to victory. We do NOT want a "victory" for a Republican Party that is really just "Democrat-light" -- we need a return to true conservative values that can turn this country away from the liberal, big-government direction it's been heading in for years now.

DON'T YOU REMEMBER -- in the 2008 primaries, strong movement conservatives were WARNING Republicans to OPPOSE the Three-Headed-RINO that they called RUDY McROMNEY! A horrible mixture of Rudy Giuliani... John McCain... and Mitt Romney -- THREE OF A KIND!

WE MUST STOP THAT CREATURE AGAIN!

We need to do every thing we can to STOP Mitt Romney from advancing to the forefront of GOP candidates for President. So... WE are going to spread the word of WARNING with nationwide ads -- but we need YOUR help to do it!

TAKE ACTION: Republicans are so desperate right now for a "conservative" candidate to ride in on his white stallion and save the movement, that they're willing to sell their political birthright for a mess of liberal pottage. They don't realize that this "pro-life" candidate is the same one who bragged that he was just as "pro-choice" as his Democratic opponent for Governor... or the same "pro-traditional values" candidate who was TWICE endorsed by the homosexual group "Log Cabin Republicans," and called the 2002 Marriage Protection Amendment "too extreme"... and they're just beginning to realize that this is the man who gave us the foundation of Obamacare!

Mitt Romney is misrepresenting himself to the conservative movement, and the Republican Party -- and we MUST get the word out before it's too late! To do this, the RightMarch.com PAC is launching a national "Fact Check on Romney" campaign, with plans for a FULL-PAGE AD in nationwide conservative publications, a television and radio ad campaign across the country, and an internet media campaign targeting conservative websites and email lists.

We ran a media blitz like this during the last presidential primary election season... and it WORKED. Mitt Romney was exposed, and defeated. (If only our "anti-McCain" campaign had worked during the primaries, too!)

This ad ran in the Washington Times national edition four years ago:

http://www.rightmarch.com/pac/romney-ad.pdf

We want to run an ad like that again, along with TV and radio ads nationwide. We can fire up our successful campaign again RIGHT NOW with your help -- but we've GOT to get it published to an even wider audience, and we need to get this campaign rolling QUICKLY. Desperate conservative voters have a sad history of being gullible to sweet-sounding politicians, then paying for it after the election. We can't afford any more of that. Please, make your best donation NOW to help us get the TRUTH out to conservatives across the nation!

The Gunwalker conspirators are losing the PR war. When you show up as fodder on Jon Stewart, you're toast

The Gunwalker Scandal Made Simple
There are five key accusations against ATF and DOJ made by ATF whistleblowers and other sources within FedGov:
1. That they instructed U.S. gun dealers to proceed with questionable and illegal sales of firearms to suspected gunrunners.
2. That they allowed or even assisted in those guns crossing the U.S. border into Mexico to "boost the numbers" of American civilian market firearms seized in Mexico and thereby provide the justification for more firearm restrictions on American citizens and more power and money for ATF.
3. That they intentionally kept Mexican authorities in the dark about the operation, even over objections of their own agents.
4. That weapons that the ATF let "walk" to Mexico were involved in the deaths of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ICE agent Jaime Zapata, as well as at least hundreds of Mexican citizens.
5. That at least since the death of Brian Terry on 14 December, the Obama administration is engaged in a full-press cover-up of the facts behind what has come to be known as the "Gunwalker Scandal."
Acting ATF Director Melson's future as a children's book.

"I Love Me Some Rednecks"

The writing below by one Loretta Gillespie reminds of a few things:
1. There is a book, written by a man who studied for years as to Who survived, why they survived, and lessons to be learned.
He learned that in any given crisis or calamity there are three groups:
Group C-- These people freeze, not knowing what to do, in shock and fear. 10%
Group B--These people wait for someone to do something, or someone to tell them what to do 80%
Group A. These people take action that surely saves them, and possibly those near them.10%

2. Our society has been taught that "The Government will take care of that" or "We got to get someone out here to do something about that"
The Problem: Anything done by the Government has to be paid for by SOMEONE paying taxes.

3. One of the most successful organizations in the world has an approach to problems. Most people are stuck in the notion that there is ONE WAY to solve any problem, or defeat a threatening force.
That approach is articulated as :"Improvise--Adapt--Overcome", and the organization is the US Marine Corps.

4. There are many joke e-mails floating around the Internet with low income "Fixes" to different building and machine problems.
REDNECK BASS BOAT

If you look at these:
A. Someone DID something that works
B. They improvised

"I Love Me Some Rednecks"

"Most all of us around here have born the brunt of remarks from
people outside Lawrence County about being rednecks. Well, I'm here to tell you right now that I love me some Lawrence County rednecks!

Rednecks have Polan chainsaws, bulldozers, four-wheelers and big ol' trucks - and they know how to use 'em. They aren't afraid of getting dirty or of hard work.

As soon as the wind died down, they were the first ones out there, clearing the roads for emergency vehicles to get to where they needed to be. They were standing up to their knees in debris so that people could get out of their driveways. They were checking on neighbors who lived in the hardest hit areas where cars and normal vehicles didn't stand a chance.

If you were the victim of the storm and found your driveway miraculously cleared, you can thank a redneck. If you have a brush pile a mile high and you didn't do it yourself, you can thank a redneck. If someone brought you a shirt to put on your back that day, or hauled your furniture to a storage facility, you can probably thank a redneck.

Those good ol' boys waded through water filled with gas and glass,
nails and torn tin roofs and no telling what else to offer assistance to people stranded in the rubble of their homes. They worn camo jackets and John Deere caps, spit tobacco and more than likely did a little cussing, but they got the job done, and they are the ones who are still out there cutting up trees and burning brush long into the night, just as they have been ever since the storms hit.

They didn't wait to be asked...they just 'got 'er done' in the true sense of the phrase. They didn't stand around jawing and waiting for someone else to take charge, they went to work doing what they do best - moving earth, pushing aside massive trees with root systems as big around as a VW, and tossing aside boards with splinters the size of kitchen knives.

And they did all this without any thought of their own comfort or safety. They put their scuffed cowboy boots and worn work boots on the ground and tread across roof beams and unsteady floors to make sure there was no one left inside the wreckage of everything from two-story brick houses to mobile home and barns. They already had a flashlight and a pocket knife with them. They rounded up their neighbor's cattle and horses and coaxed kittens out of trees where the wind had tossed them and they cried like babies when they found someone's hunting dog broken and bleeding.

They waded into poultry houses and caught terrified chickens, and tossed mountains of dead ones onto piles to burn. They began to hang tarps and nail plywood over broken windows to save their cousins and other kin folk's belongings. They didn't stop for hours on end, hooking chains to cars, trees and any and everything that had landed helter-skelter as the tornados tore through. Rednecks just show up when there is work to be done. They drive up and with a silent nod, they just pitch in, salvaging refrigerators and hooking up generators. They don't care if they look cool and they don't have to shave before they leave the house. They are tough as nails and love their mamas fiercely. They still say 'Yes, ma'm' and 'No, sir,' to anyone older than they are. They eat cornbread and pinto beans and drink tea so sweet a spoon will stand straight up in the glass. They sweat and swear and have grease under their nails sometimes. They can deliver a calf and half an hour later be sitting in church, scrubbed to a fare-the-well. And did they ever save the day when the thunder rolled and the lightning flashed and the wind knocked down the houses where they were born?

They don't do it for the glory, and wouldn't dream of taking a dime for it, and are sometimes even offended if someone asks how much they are owed 'cause that's what rednecks do - they drive loud trucks, bobcats and front-end loaders, they crank cantankerous chain saws and they know the feel of rope burns and blistered faces. They get those red necks from the sun beating down relentlessly as they labor in the dust and smoke from all the brush fires. They think sun-screen is for sissies and they don't worry much about anti-bacterial soap or drink fruit-flavored water.

Give me a Lawrence County redneck any day when trouble comes - when fences get blown over and the lights go out, and there are trees and houses strewn like matchsticks as far as the eye can see, what in the world would we do without these rednecks? Thanks to all of you dear rednecks, you deserve medals for what you have done in the past few weeks. And don't think the world didn't notice, they did. In fact, somebody is probably writing a country song about you as you read this."

Congressman Allen West, desecrating the American flag
http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/pulp/2011/06/allen_west_flag_code_violates_federal_law.php
There's nothing really bad to say about Rep. Allen West going diving off the coast of Deerfield Beach with a bunch of military veterans -- except for the fact that he violated U.S. federal law in the process, and provided pictorial of himself doing so.

During his diving session Sunday, Lt. Col. West was photographed holding an American flag underwater, on top of an artificial reef -- which would be a violation of the United States Code.

Let us flip to Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8, Subsection B of the United States Code:

(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

That's from Chapter 1 of the United States Code, also known as the United States Flag Code.

Judging from the existence of pictures of West holding a flag under water, that would seem to qualify as a violation of code.

The Flag Code constitutes federal law, although there is no penalty for breaking this law.

We'll let you off with a warning, West.

But let it be known that you're joining the ranks of at least one other politician by violating the code:

When'll Sarah Palin realize she's JUST a dumb GIRL? Women don't belong in politics. She is not nice and sweet. Should shut up in presence of MEN!!!!

Subject: When'll Sarah Palin realize she's JUST a dumb GIRL? Women don't belong in politics. She is not nice and sweet. Should shut up in presence of MEN!!!!!!

The last big assault on Sarah the stupid, girl has again proven to be another giant back fire. Sarah has been more scrutinized than any candidate for public
office in the history of this nation. She had an ass hole move in next door to her to watch her family and her 24/7. The corporate Marxist media minions sent thousands of people to scour every public and private record they could find on her since her birth and now they have the "emails" from her time in the Governor's office in Alaska.

Who in the world could stand this kind of blitzkrieg and come out unblemished? I know Obama or any of the RINORATS couldn't.

The best the can come up with is she was "Combative and ENGAGED?"

They accuse her of being combative after she repels attacks on her, her family and her character. She just is not sugar and spice and every thing nice a good girl should be! Thank God for that. She is a full blown American Patriot, one of us who knows what it means to fight for survival in the USA. She is a working mom who still manages to run the family chores at home.

That is more than any of the lecherous left wing or right wing RINORATS of either sex can say.

She is a Christian American without apology.

I for one am sick of this constant drum beat against Sarah Palin. She has not proven to be stupid. She is "intelligent" but the media and RINORATS instead call her "shrewd" in the same manner they would describe a shyster lawyer.

They will not concede the possibility she loves her family and is a good mother. They instead charge her with exploiting her children to get rich. Since when is the act of seeking wealth a bad thing in free enterprise AMERICA?

She is accused of being cruel to animals for hunting and fishing. Now dammit that is just too much for this All American Boy to take. That is one of her best characteristics. She and Teddy Roosevelt have a lot in common. I respect them both. Who in the world would ever attack Teddy Roosevelt for doing the same things Sarah Palin does?

Only American hating gun hating left wing liberal sissy boys and liberal lesbians would say a word about her. They then only do it behind safety of their anonymity because they are afraid she will kick their chickenshit ass.

Sarah haters continue to say she has no political skills and can't play with the big boy RINORATS, they will eat her for lunch. Yet she remains front page news where ever she goes.

The news media follows her relentlessly looking for every slip of the tongue to make her the butt of late night leftest jokes and then accuse her of being combative when they attack her or her family.

All I can say about this is "what a girl". I will vote for her and definitely have her on my list of potential presidential candidates.

The RINORATS deserted her after she helped some of the GOP established RINOS get reelected. He biggest debt paid was to McCain. Now they want to get rid of her because she is a threat to the GOP establishment. She is a damned girl for Christs SAKE and she has the gall to think for herself instead of listening to the losers who run the GOP.

AGAIN WHAT a GIRL!!!!! Her dad has to be proud of her. Anybody who can stand by themselves after being attacked by every corrupt bastard in the USA has the guts and the brains and the love of family to be our PRESIDENT.

Now I know why our high school football coach always degraded us by saying his girls were tougher than we were. He wasn't degrading us at all, he was being honest. We were a bunch of wimps and got off our butts to make sure some old girl couldn't beat us.

Sarah Palin's biggest fault besides being just a dumb old girl is she is not a political elite. She is one of We the People, who knows what its like to work for a living. She has taught her children the same work ethic and showed the world she is not afraid to get her hands dirty when it comes to work.

Sarah showed how to conquer fear of heights in her short series about Alaska by scaling the wall of a mountain. She has the courage to take on the battles to save America, and the political elite Corporate Marxist Minions, Corporate monopolies, World Bankers and RINORATS are scared to death she will
become the first independent president the USA has had in decades.

They keep saying they hope she become the GOP candidate for president, and must remember the old adage "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!"

I hope those bastards who keep belittling Palin get it and get it good and hard. If it wasn't for strong independent women, America would never have realized its greatness. Now it is time for strong independent women to help get that greatness back. Sarah is the GIRL to do just that.

WHAT A GIRL!!!!!!!

Undefeated: Steve Bannon sits down with Hannity

Steve Bannon, creator of the new Sarah Palin documentary Undefeated, says that the reason this pathology of hatred exists for Sarah Palin is simply because she is an existential threat to the establishment because she stands with the people. He says she’s always been underestimated by her opposition and now she counts on it as part of her strategy.

He says if she does run in 2012 and wins the nomination, it’ll be a title match like Frazier/Ali. Dude!

U.N. Agreement Should Have All (US) Gun Owners Up In Arms

http://blogs.forbes.com/larrybell/2011/06/07/u-n-agreement-should-have-all-gun-owners-up-in-arms/

Jun. 7 2011 - 2:04 pm

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty” premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates” you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted – our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

What, exactly, does the intended agreement entail?

While the terms have yet to be made public, if passed by the U.N. and ratified by our Senate, it will almost certainly force the U.S. to:
Enact tougher licensing requirements, creating additional bureaucratic red tape for legal firearms ownership.
Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms (exempting those owned by our government of course).
Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons (any that have magazines even though they still operate in the same one trigger pull – one single “bang” manner as revolvers, a simple fact the ant-gun media never seem to grasp).
Create an international gun registry, clearly setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.
In short, overriding our national sovereignty, and in the process, providing license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.

In short, overriding our national sovereignty, and in the process, providing license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.

Have no doubt that this plan is very real, with strong Obama administration support. In January 2010 the U.S. joined 152 other countries in endorsing a U.N. Arms Treaty Resolution that will establish a 2012 conference to draft a blueprint for enactment. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has pledged to push for Senate ratification.

Former U.N. ambassador John Bolton has cautioned gun owners to take this initiative seriously, stating that the U.N. “is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there is no doubt that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”
More from contributor Larry Bell
Although professing to support the Second Amendment during her presidential election bid, Hillary Clinton is not generally known as a gun rights enthusiast. She has been a long-time activist for federal firearms licensing and registration, and a vigorous opponent of state Right-to-Carry laws. As a New York senator she ranked among the National Rifle Association’s worst “F”-rated gun banners who voted to support the sort of gunpoint disarmament that marked New Orleans’ rogue police actions against law-abiding gun owners in the anarchistic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

President Obama’s record on citizen gun rights doesn’t reflect much advocacy either. Consider for example his appointment of anti-gun rights former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels as an alternate U.S. representative to the U.N., and his choice of Andrew Traver who has worked to terminate civilian ownership of so-called “assault rifles” (another prejudicially meaningless gun term) to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Then, in a move unprecedented in American history, the Obama administration quietly banned the re-importation and sale of 850,000 collectable antique U.S.-manufactured M1 Garand and Carbine rifles that were left in South Korea following the Korean War. Developed in the 1930s, the venerable M1 Garand carried the U.S. through World War II, seeing action in every major battle.

As an Illinois state senator, Barack Obama was an aggressive advocate for expanding gun control laws, and even voted against legislation giving gun owners an affirmative defense when they use firearms to defend themselves and their families against home invaders and burglars.

He also served on a 10-member board of directors of the radically activist anti-gun Joyce Foundation in Chicago during a period between 1998-2001when it contributed $18,326,183 in grants to anti-Second Amendment organizations.

If someone breaks into your home when you are there, which would you prefer to have close at hand: 1) a telephone to call 911, or 2) a loaded gun of respectable caliber? That’s a pretty easy question for me to answer. I am a long-time NRA member, concealed firearms license holder and a regular weekly recreational pistol shooter. And while I don’t ordinarily care to target anything that has a mother, will reluctantly make an exception should an urgent provocation arise. I also happen to enjoy the company of friends who hunt, as well as those, like myself, who share an abiding interest in American history and the firearms that influenced it.

There are many like me, and fewer of them would be alive today were it not for exercise of their gun rights. In fact law-abiding citizens in America used guns in self-defense 2.5 million times during 1993 (about 6,850 times per day), and actually shot and killed 2 1/2 times as many criminals as police did (1,527 to 606). Those civilian self-defense shootings resulted in less than 1/5th as many incidents as police where an innocent person was mistakenly identified as a criminal (2% versus 11%).
Just how effectively have gun bans worked to make citizens safer in other countries? Take the number of home break-ins while residents are present as an indication. In Canada and Britain, both with tough gun-control laws, nearly half of all burglaries occur when residents are present. But in the U.S. where many households are armed, only about 13% happen when someone is home.

Recognizing clear statistical benefit evidence, 41 states now allow competent, law-abiding adults to carry permitted or permit-exempt concealed handguns. As a result, crime rates in those states have typically fallen at least 10% in the year following enactment.

So the majority in our Senate is smart enough to realize that the U.N.’s gun-grab agenda is unconstitutional, politically suicidal for those who support it, and down-right idiotic—right? Let’s hope so, but not entirely count on it. While a few loyal Obama Democrats are truly “pro-gun”, many are loathe to vote against treaties that carry the president’s international prestige, causing him embarrassment.

Also, don’t forget that Senate confirmation of anti-gun Obama nominee Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Many within the few who voted against her did so only because of massive grassroots pressure from constituents who take their Constitutional protections very seriously.

Now, more than ever, it’s imperative to stick by our guns in demanding that all Constitutional rights be preserved. If not, we will surely lose both.

For those of you who don't know about COLORS

As a California Highway Patrol Officer operating out of the Oceanside Office, our training staff had got permission to use ranges on Camp Pendleton for our monthly mandatory shoots. WE were spaced out sop that usually no more than four officers were at the range at any given time.
My time was 1830 (6:30PM for Civilians)
I had worked two crashes, and was running late.
I'm driving my patrolo car through Mainside section of Camp Pendleton, followong a 10 wheeled truck. The truck STOPS. I think, "What the hell is wrong with this guy!"
I start to get out.
I hear the bugle call
I see that EVERYONE is standing. Civilians are at attention. Those in uniform are facing the huge flag near the base commisary at attention and saluting.

After I get to the range, I remark to our Range Officer (Former Marine). He informs me that was COLORS. He tells me that when COLORS (The Flag) are raised (morning), and lowered (evening), this happens. Out of respect for our flag and all those who have serverd it and died for it, the entire Base stops, faces the flag, and stands at attention.

I think: WHAT A GREAT TRADITION. Another item to add to the things I like about Marines.

In those years, I was running races--5K, 10K, half Marathons, and yes, even a few Marathons. Two races I loved to be at:
The Toys-for-Tots race on Miramar MCAS, and the Marine Corps Marathon in between Arlington National Cemetary and the Pentagon
This photo was after the race. Start and finish is here,. and COLORS are before the race

BELOW, three videos.
1. Even the kids know what you do at Colors

2. Evening Colors

3. Morning Colors at Camp Pendleton. This was NOT "For Show" This is daily.

SANCTUARY CITIES MUST GO! DEMOCRATS FIGHT FOR RIGHTS OF ILLEGALS AND CRIMINALS

What would happen if you hung a sign on your front door that read; "No locks, No weapons, No alarms". Do you think you might be robbed? Repeatedly! Many cities in Texas have hung such a sign at the city limits and the results are what any rational thinking person would expect.
Are you familiar with the following Texas cities?
Austin, Baytown, Brownsville, Channelview, Denton, Dallas, El Cenizo, Ft. Worth, Houston, Katy, Laredo, League City, Mcallen, Port Arthur, San Antonio.

Do you know what they have in common with these U.S. cities?
Washington, D.C., New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Santa Ana, San Diego, San Jose, Salt Lake City, Detroit, Jersey City, Minneapolis, Miami, Denver, Baltimore, Seattle, Portland, New Haven, Somerville, Cambridge and Portland, Maine

All of the above cities are Sanctuary Cities.

These are cities that knowingly harbor illegal aliens, and beyond that these are cities that actually prohibit either by statute, policy or practiced apathy the enforcement of the law.
In the above cities police officers are restricted from obtaining the immigration status of any person ever, and they are expressly prohibited from arresting anyone known to be in the United States illegally.

Thank California –

Like most ridiculous ideas and horrible left-wing social engineering, the notion of Sanctuary Cities comes to us courtesy of the people of California.
Back in 1979 the Los Angeles Police Department issued Special Order 40.
Special Order 40 reads: “Officers shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the alien status of a person. Officers shall not arrest nor book persons for violation of title 8, section 1325 of the United States Immigration code (Illegal Entry).”
The LAPD said back then that Special Order 40 was initiated in order to encourage illegal’s living in Los Angeles to cooperate with police investigations without fear of being arrested.
Somewhere along the way it all went terribly wrong and now we have a major issue in this country with a sub-culture-of people numbering in the millions are basically afforded a pass in our legal system.
To live in the U.S. illegally without ever having your status questioned in not a right. Yet, whenever any legislative body in the United States attempts to create legislation that allows law enforcement officers to actually enforce the law the liberal left comes apart at the seams.
Texas Governor Rick Perry has called a Special Session of the Texas legislature today in order to consider many bills that were not passed in the regular 140 biennial session that ended yesterday. One of the most important bills that should be considered during this special session is the “Sanctuary City” bill,
This bill, like most bills that make common sense has been vehemently opposed by the left. The Texas Senate's 12 Democrats have in fact formed a united front against the bill. Why?
Votes. Hispanic leaders have argued – are you ready – here it comes – that the bill would lead to racial profiling!!!
The Horror!
In protest of the bill, the Reverend Stephen Jasso who is the pastor of the All Saints Catholic Church in Fort Worth said the bill will “Hurt and endanger” Latino communities.
The bill, SB12 allows law enforcement officers to inquire about immigration status when making arrests.
Think about that.
Here’s the type of scenario that would have to play out before a police officer could inquire about immigration status.
A suspect would be identified by police – Immigration status is not a factor here.
A suspect is apprehended – Immigration status still not a factor, right?
A suspect is arrested, read their rights, and booked on a charge – at which point they can be asked their immigration status
Is this truly horrible? Does that singular question pose a risk that would “Hurt and endanger” Latino communities? Is it somehow harmful to mankind?
Let’s say you or I were born in the United States. We’re bona fide Americans. Is it proper for a police officer to ask us for an ID if we’ve been pulled over for speeding, or apprehended on suspicion of a crime?
Doesn’t that happen every day in every municipality, county and state in America?
Why should someone living in this country illegally be allowed more privacy as to identity than you or I?
Here’s why –
Liberals hate police officers. Liberals don’t trust police officers? Liberals think you’re an idiot.
The big complaint about Arizona’s SB 1070 was that police would be stopping people on the streets and demanding their papers “just like the Nazi’s”.
Just a side note, could someone please get together on the left and come up with something better than “Nazi” and “Racist” those charges have grown ridiculously tiresome and wholly predictable as your only defense against boneheaded law or policy you want to institute or protect. While you’re at it could you come up with something better than “Republicans want to kill Grandma” to address entitlement spending as well?
The fact of the matter is that opposing Arizona’s SB1070 (whose language mirrors federal law) and opposing Texas’ SB12 is not about protecting illegal immigrants from “profiling”.
Profiling is a tried and true law enforcement tool. The F.B.I. has people who do nothing but put together profiles of potential suspects for various crimes. It is particularly useful and widely practiced in the investigation of serial killer cases. The vast majority of those killers are white, by the way. Racist? Anyone?
The real reasons that liberals oppose anything that in any way hinders a stoppage of the flow and protection of illegal aliens is that they don’t want to lose one of their major voting blocks; Hispanics.
That’s all that matters to liberals. Not the law. Not the constitution. Not saving our economy. Not American values. Just the votes.
With the votes, come power, and with power comes the ability to continue to “fundamentally change” America from a Republic into something far less.
It is ironic that the party of equality and rights for all wants a sub-culture-of people in our nation to be above the law or at least to be allowed to legally live outside of the law.
How’s that for equality dear Americans?
Fruits of allowing a sub-culture to exist that is beyond the law:
The Houston Chronicle reported in October of 2010 that the incidence of illegal immigration cases that had been dismissed in Houston courts was up 700% over the previous month.

(Arizona) Judge says new law won't help rancher [Thanks to subversive groups]

A new Arizona law that retroactively prevents courts from granting punitive damages to illegal immigrants will not help rancher Casey Nethercott, a Cochise County judge ruled Tuesday.
The Legislature earlier this year passed a law to make a 2006 referendum apply to cases dating back to 2004. The law was targeted at helping rancher Roger Barnett, who had lost a civil lawsuit alleging he held immigrants caught on his land at gunpoint in 2004, assaulted them and caused emotional distress. He was ordered to pay them $87,000.
Nethercott said he believed the new law also would help him. In 2003, Nethercott and several other members of a volunteer border-patrol group called Ranch Rescue stopped two illegal immigrants on a ranch they were patrolling in Texas. The immigrants alleged that Nethercott threatened them and pistol-whipped a male immigrant in the head. Nethercott was criminally charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was convicted of the unlawful-possession charge and sentenced to serve several years in a Texas prison

A year after the incident, the Southern Poverty Law Center filed a civil lawsuit against Nethercott and several of the other men on behalf of the immigrants. The Texas state court in 2005 issued a civil judgment of $850,000 against Nethercott. A Cochise County judge later signed over Nethercott's Arizona ranch to the immigrants to cover some of the judgment.
Shortly after the new Arizona law was passed, Nethercott filed a motion in Cochise County Superior Court to vacate the judgment against him. On Tuesday, Judge James Conlogue denied Nethercott's motion, leaving the judgment against him intact.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the judge said the new law did not apply to Nethercott for several reasons: There was no evidence the immigrants in the case had ever been to Arizona; the incident happened in 2003, before the new law's retroactive effective date; and the damages awarded were compensatory and not punitive.
"The judge went through the questions and the points we made, and found (the law) didn't apply to this case," center director Mary Bauer said.
Bauer said Conlogue did not address the constitutionality of the new law.
"We continue to believe that the law is unconstitutional," Bauer said. "But that's a matter for another day."
Nethercott said he thought he'd be bitter about the ruling, but he wasn't.
"I didn't get my ranch back, and I didn't get a dime, but at least the law's in effect," he said. "If something happens with an illegal, and they try to sue you and get visas and amnesty, it won't work anymore. Nobody else will lose their home. That's what's important."
